Sunday 6th August
Up early to Grace to lead
worship; Feast of the Transfiguration. Strange
and complicated readings so I set strange and complicated arrangements around them. The Jesus prayer in Ukranian
before I came in; Transports de joie d’une âme devant la gloire du
Christ qui est la sienne - “Transports
of joy of a soul before the glory of Christ which is his”, by Oliver Messiaen after
the gospel, “Dawn”
from Peter Grimes by Ben Britten as a closing.
I was surprised by how many folks enjoyed the Messiaen, adored the Britten and spoke kindly of the
service as a whole.
Then to take the Aubergine curry, and Cheese, onion and potato pies to Keith’s
place where we met his son, James.
And on to CT and IGA for a monstrous shop, before back to 107 for work
preparing – and repairing – the cabin (Beds for the former, plumbing for the
latter), pitching tents in the screen room for the boys to sleep in, and
finally, a coat of varnish on Castor..
Phew
A travelling day! To Tremblant to catch up with Karen and Denis, in town for affairs of the back, and to collect the Oats. Lovely to see them and to catch up.
To St Jerome to collect the hire car – never goes easily, does it? Then down to Dorval Via-Rail station, to arrive exactly as Bryony and Marks’ train rolled in from Toronto – they’d had such a good weekend and such an early start!
Guy saw them all the way to Union
Station. THANK you, Guy!
And then up to Tremblant to Brasserie Saint Arnoud for various north American
food before home. You’d have thought
that everyone would have been exhausted; not a bit of it. We arrived here about 17.30; it’s now 21.30
and the boys are still “settling” in their individual tents in the screen-room.
Ho hum; (so very good to have them here!).
