Graft and good news

Thursday 27th

A not so warm but dry day; first assault on the gloss coat for the walls.  This needs topping up every 2-3 years in order to protect the colour coats beneath.  So, wet the wall, apply “Log Wash” (TSP I think) from below upwards, rinse off from above downwards and leave to dry.  Then apply clear coat gloss.  I’m still not very good at height – Ali manages however.

Some lawn cutting, a very successful North African influenced pork casserole.  Delicious.  Fighting a sermon – never a good sign.

Friday, 28th.

I started well by washing the trail side wall.  Lots of toing and froing connecting and disconnecting the power washer (A gift from Juie and Guy if I remember; thank you!).  Much angst about a thank you note for Lib Dem poster people.  I tried to paint the Lib Dem Bird emblem – with no success I’m afraid.  We thought of having it printed in Tremblant but decided against.  I had a little more success with the sermon and hymn choice; how good it is to have Wanda’s support with the music!

To Labelle for supper with Greg and Peter and the renamed, yet again, restaurant – le Petit Train du Nord.  I had my first poutine I think; a strange, utterly Quebec dish of chips, topped with cheese curd, tinned gravy and, in my case, confit duck.  Tastes exactly as it sounds.  No redeeming features at all.  Not unpleasant, in fact strangely satisfying, but not to be repeated I think.

But a day or two of great family news; Natalie looking fairytale princess for her Prom; Lila bubbling at her grade 6 “Graduation”; Noah for the year prize in French; Abel for the Boy’s year prize in Sport; Guy and Julie for being granted their mortgage and thus being able to move.

                            Brilliant!
