Indolence?

Monday morning, 26th Feb

We have been inactive pretty much.  Lots of reading, YouTube watching and general sitting around I'm afraid.  The weather is unpredictable, warm and a steady thaw for a couple of days and then bitterly chill - particularly overnight.

I HAVE managed to raise the height of the bird feeder, needed since the ground levelling in the Fall, in order to try to put it out of reach of the deer.  But that took me more than one day to find the bits that I knew that I had and to do the job!


We went to the garage on Thursday as arranged - another steering pipe is weeping.  I'm tempted to say "replace the remaining two as well", but they're a couple of hundred dollars each.....  Fortunately they are single access jobs, nothing needs duplicating when each is done. Booked for the 29th.

 

But life dropped back into order yesterday with church at Grace.  -15 or so overnight, what are probably only deer tracks looked very strange in the crisp, new snow. 

I'd woken at about 6.00 am and joined worship at Long Ashton on line but it was very good to be in Grace.  Vestry meeting afterwards and a little bit of shopping.

Tasty chicken fricasee for supper.  A relatively early night.

Monday, 26th Feb - 10.40 am.

Another very early waking so I came down and said morning prayer.  I've been having a series of dreams about my workinglife; some good, some not so good, most just "narrative".  Strange.

 

 

But  a perfect morning; clear, bright, a little bit of snow overnight.  

 

Pity about the forecast!

Thursday, 22nd. Feb.

A catch-up morning and then down to the garage; it's another pipe!  We'll go back for that on the 29th and then - we shall see!

Thence to St Jovite for an almighty shop and home for a sort of "beans on cheese on toast".  Yum.

Friday, 23rd.

The temperature is going up.  +5 at noon.  I need to extend the bird feeder to bring it above the (very shy) deer's reach.  Heavy snow and not terribly deep.  But I found the pole I was looking for some time after I have taken my outer clothes off.  Anyway - we don't have any bird seed just now so no rush.

Portioned up all the animal proteins into freezer bags.  Terriyaki salmon and stuffed, baked potatoes for supper.  So quiet here - and the temperature is falling hard.

 Monday, 19th February

Smooth journey - taxi, coach, check in, security, Fortnum's ( :-) ), flight, spectacular afterglow over northern Quebec, a bit of a delay in baggage (after a super fast passage through passport control) then pick up by Wanda and home to scotch, sandwiches, cake and bed!

Tuesday, 20th.

A lazy day.  Then to Josee and Pierre for a delicious supper and much chat.  The car - our car - is again steering very, very stifly.  Hmm

Wednesday, 21st.

Away by 10.00; GOSH!  the car is almost undriveable!  Stopped for fuel before the divided highway out of town; checked the power steering fluid reservoir - empty.  Filled it, let it run for a little.  Problem solved, or at least remedied for now.  Smooth drive up to la Conception to the garage - they'll see us for a diagnosis tomorrow at 14.00.  

 

Home via the village stores; there isn't anywherre near as much snow as last year and the temperature was +5 on arrival.

All is well; the house heats up quickly; no water leaks.  Nachos, 1664, snooze.

Turkeys, sunset, silence.  Aaaah!
