Tuesday, 19th.
Awake at about 06.00 Canadian – which is 11.00 UK. Pretty good really.
Still no luck with the internet, and I am continuing to be confused by the
messages on EE on my phone. And we had previously refused a strange payment on our Canadian Credit cards (Insurance - Toronto) seen from the UK which
was declared a fraud by the Bank and my card frozen. So I have no Canadian Credit Card and we have
now opened letters saying that our car insurance will be suspended if we don’t pay
it – and later thanking us that we have.
Oh dear; the perils of international living. How does Ali’s brother Chris manage at all?
So now either the bank – which has already refunded us – is trying to chase the
insurance and our car is not covered, or, well, something. Too much complication.
Step 1. To the Internet provider in the
village to get signed back on again and to put the next payment on Ali’s card.
Step 2.
To the restaurant in Labelle for lunch to meet up with Peter and Greg
(the girl) after too long! Poutine and
burgers for lunch (and a salad, of course) and a very good alcohol free IPA
very cleverly named “Hors Sentier” – “Off the trail”, coll., “Off Piste”
The nervous tension – we came home to working internet, established that my EE
account still says that we have roaming included, checked that the car is in fact
recorded as insured and agreed an approach to the insurer tomorrow because it was
already after 6.00 – the nervous tension is
silly.
Gazpacho and sweet corn for supper.
Oblivion.
Wednesday 20th
Up very determined at some sensible hour and then slow progress on the bathroom
wall where 6 tiles have fallen off.
At some point we rang the insurer – we are insured, and the bank has not yet
clawed back the money. There had in fact
been an email to me, but it was during the pacemaker time, and I just didn’t
act on it. Very pleasant they were
too. We therefor owe the bank that money
– since we have already had the refund – and shall deal with that the next time
we’re in Tremblant.
Some new keys cut – we have left the big bunch at home in the UK – and my
replacement card has arrived.
Poulet bonne femme for supper. 10 corn
cobs for $3.00 in the store. Ridiculous. (Ah! I'd better chechwhere they come from.....)
But some things remain blissfully the same – a Doe in the front garden.
I'm glad things are beginning to fall back into order! What happened with the tiles, was there moisture somewhere or had their time just come?
ReplyDeleteI think their time had just come.....
