Friends!

Friday, 1st August.

Not-so-early rising and we found this little family group at ease on the meadow!  They must have stayed there or thereabouts for half an hour!

The main task today was to collect Elizabeth - the widow of Grace Church's former pastor - from her home by lac Cameron to take her to an appointment in Huberdeau; and then to go trip shopping.  It's about 1.5 hours to her place, half an hour to Huberdeau (jolly lunch in a diner, waiting for her); no fuel available in Huberdeau - nearest is Tremblant.  Gauge rather low, feeling a bit nervous.......

Back to her house; decide to try to make it to Tremblant.

It's Labour day weekend; the traffic is horrible, the main street fuel station in Tremblant is out of fuel!  Up the 117 to the turning for Monte Ryan, expecting to stop at any point - the gauge by now is absolutely flat.

But the van drives on serenely.  This was the amount of fuel we had to put in - the tank holds 95L according to the handbook.

Needn't have worried!

To IGA for stores.  That shop is a nightmare for finding things; which I find very difficult when you're trying to make up recipes for up to two week on the water - might be as little as three days between re-provision stations.....

 'Should do for now......

Soup for supper (chips at lunchtime!).

Saturday, 2nd September.

Began dragging kit out of the basement. It all comes flooding back!  No mouse damage this year it would seem - unlike two years ago.

Something's wrong with the water pump - the tank keeps running out.  I think I need to adjust the new switch parameters and check the pressure in the tank bladder.  Plenty of "how to's" on line.  That's one for tomorrow.  But the washing machine keeps draining the tank; so we took a wet wash to Lorne and Audrey's where we were due for lunch.

And where we met David and Marie  David is one of Lorne's oldest friends from summer camp days as kids.  The food (lake caught trout and home picked apple pie) was delicious; the conversation was fascinating - although I think that I talked to much and Lorne was waaaaay too kind about us!

It will be good to meet them again.

And Tashie - newly with "bump" - Nathan and Jordan had all turned up so it was a very happy gathering.

Home to tidy up service for tomorrow and then to face down all of this!

But we'll get there; we'll get there!
