We woke, rested, and ready for anything! My hands are much better, Ali's jaw is recovering....
But look! MORE snow!
.... and then Michel the deneigeur arrived. Hooray!
Up and dress and off to the car; the car HAS to go in the barn today - regardless.
See how much snow has accumulated!.. Honest, it took about 1/2 an hour to clean it all off.
But the car started OK - and moved backwards out of its "sheath" of snow.
So, the temperature being only about minus 5, we washed as much of the salt off it as we could, and headed for the barn.
And, although the main doors were cleared, they were locked, and I had to put snow-shoes on to get to the house-facing door.
The car went in OK - but the main doors wouldn't close. The removable door sill had swollen with the earlier wet and then frozen and just wouldn't go back in.
But we had time, the weather was warm (minus 3 by now) and we have - a power plane!
Fortunately, there were no metal bits, screws or nails, in the upper surface so it was duly reduced and the doors shut - mostly. At least they locked.
Then it was time for the bird(!) feeders. and the toboggan came in really handy to cart the seed across two feet of powder snow!
Here, Ali is just starting off down the drive - no powder here.
Completely whacked by all this activity, we retreated to the cottage - St Jaques and a glass of white for supper on the go - and then this! Will we ever get home to the UK?
But really, see how the day all came together with perfect timing. Aren't we blessed....
Today, Thursday 18th February.
The usual chores prior to departure; a gentle drive down with Michel Rocher and now supper. In Moe's. As usual.
Great trip, longing to see the British crew but can't wait to see the Canadians again.....
