Little adventures!

Wednesday, 3rd of February.

We left the truck at Marcel's for a oil-change and then drove on in Ann's car.  With visitors in the house - you HAVE to go to Tremblant.  But a damp and rather lack-lustre Tremblant I'm afraid.  A slushy car-park, just at its worst with slip over ice, and then much heavy, grey grit up the walk-ways into the resort.  Rosie, Ann's Labradoodle was much admired; she's a nice dog but the number of people who stop to chat to her and about her is remarkable!

It was mid-afternoon by the time we were at the foot of the slope and families were coming away, leaving an enviable picture of smooth, skillful skiers, penduling down the last 400 metres to stop with a flourish at the lift queue.  But what queue?  Hardly anyone waiting at all.  Still, it is off peak on a Wednesday afternoon in the drizzle....

Back down in the gondola - not a bad view, Eh?

And OUR next, favourite stop is the Poterie on the way in to St Jovite.  The potters, who have featured in this blog before, were in - they were not on the last occasion that I called.

There was too much beautiful work on view... Including this triptych of platters, each about 18inches high.

I'm afraid we spent too much - but how can you resist?

Onwards - after a false start; the website said opening at 4.00pm when actually it opened at 5.00 pm - to Steak-Frites where we had a jolly supper and then home.

We were too late home to pick up the car but in time for an early bed!

Today, Thursday the 4th February,  Ann took me in to the village to collect the car, whence we went on to Bruno's for a bit of shopping and then I had to walk down to the Post-Office for bird-seed.  Ann decided to get Rosie out of the car for the exercise and followed on.  Of course, when we got back to the cars, she found that she had locked the keys - both sets - inside the car.  So we nipped back to Marcel's who - naturally - came back with no hesitation and showed us how to break in to a car!  It all depends on the use of an inflatable bladder....

Anyway, after another round of sushi - this time using the newly-acquired platters from the Poterie :-), we decided to take a turn around the domaine on snow-shoes.

There was a crust of ice on top, and some quite deep snow beneath in places, but we did much better than we expected.

Of course, "les raquettes" get you to places that you simply can't otherwise reach in the winter.  And let you have views like this!

Once home, Ali re-stocked the "feeders" (I refuse to say "Bird-feeders" on the basis of evidence like this!)

And sometimes, the clients have so abused the feeders that remedial work is necessary before re-stocking can continue....

Rachmaninoff on the player, deep dark outside at 6.30.  Supper ahead - when I prepare it.  Toronto tomorrow!  Yippee!
