Holiday!

At last!  time off for good behaviour!

A gentle start and then off to lac des Mauves for the day!  We took the Pelican canoe now that I've bolted and thwarted it together.  It's heavy but it's very wide and very stable - a definite benefit when we're both in it!

At the put in, we met up with one of our neighbours for the first time, Chantal (?) who lives right next to the slipway; easily bi-lingual and very pleasant.

We paddled down to the place where the lake widens out and then turned East to have lunch on the islet from last year - and the year before!

We happily met up with J&R and Co, coming back from the South-Eastern "leg" of the lake.

They had hidden their tent high up on the back of the island where we had lunched; it was quite a climb up for a very welcome cup of Earl Grey tea - what else?

By about 3.30 we had to return home; they would follow when the tent was down;

 A long, gentle paddle back, with the little wind at our backs and the air as clear as wine

and Mergansers in the narrows.

It really doesn't get better than this!
