Change

 3rd July

Time to shoot!  When you're beginning to get back into archery, you shoot at what's called a "Blank Bale"; that's a backing with no target face.  If you're close enough to the target - about 10 yards or less - you can do it with your eyes shut.  I know, that sounds a bit scary but if you aim the first one or two arrows, then start closing your eyes for later shots, your body takes over.  And better than that, you feel what your body is doing.  Tuck your bum under, extend the draw fingers, Up to the draw, feel the tension between the shoulders and then expand the draw by curving the draw elbow around the curve.

You have to see it to do it but, eyes closed on a blank bale is a really good way to practice and it''s surprising how close to each other the arrows fly.

So I put up the previous target and shot three dozen.  Lovely weather, about 25 degrees but not very humid.

And just next to the 20 yard mark, a wild form (pendulous)  Aquilegia canadensis.  Wonderful!

4th July.

What but the UK election?   Well, some out and about - what a wonderful meadow!

Most of the glorious day getting ready for, or following, the election.  Great coverage on Channel 4 - apart from that terrible Nadine Dorris!

Exit Poll - terrific.  Thank goodness.  Carol Vorderman ecstatic (she's a big Anti-Tory activist), such sad tales of people taking selfies in front of polling stations saying "This is for you Dad, we couldn't say goodbye whilst they partied".

Never forget.
