Tuesday, 16th.
Up early; I went to Home Depot with Guy to collect 10 more packs of
flooring planks, and to return some damaged ones. No issue at all. Then packing and breakfast. Ali did a bit more banister cleaning before
we set off to Ottawa with rain falling and more forecast to follow us.
We thought about using Lakeside Boulevard and Don Valley parkway but turned
North instead before finally crossing the 401 which was already stationary an
going on up to the toll 407. By now the rain
was very heavy indeed. Almost as soon as
we joined the divided highway, we were using hazard lights (all vehicles) and
driving at no more than 60 Km per hour.
Whiteout! Very unpleasant driving
but at least steady progress.
And so to the road up to Peterborough and our first stop, for an early lunch and fuel.
We just stayed with the main roads all the way to Pam and Noel’s. It was a long drive but a happy one, and a happy arrival and supper. I’m afraid we were very tired!
Wednesday 17th.
Daddy would have been 102 had he survived.
Thank you Sir for all that you did for us.
To the camp site “Camping des rives d’Outaouais”. That should do as the first site out on our trip in the Fall. But they may close early September so we shall just have to get a move on when we come back….. Lots of Canada geese – lots of goose poo.
And so on to the asparagus farm for veg supplies and a ready made wild game pizza for eventual supper. A steady drive via the garage to book in for new brakes in September.
And home to the loveliest of welcomes from this chap – who did not flee but in fact advanced towards me.
The delights of wilderness living.
